I'm so happy to share this family portrait session today! Teri is my friend and colleague (in my "other" business--counseling!), and she's the kind of mom who is worth celebrating, so Mother's Day was the perfect time for this beautiful family to get together in front of my camera. You might recognize Hunter from his prom photos, but I hadn't met Ky and Brett before, and they were just as much fun!
Teri is smart and kind, and she possesses a sort of tough but quiet bravery that really inspires me. Even during my brief time hanging out with her kids, it was easy to see that the apples haven't fallen far from the tree. No pun intended. ;)
The bugs were out in full force the evening of our session, so we had to escape from my usual woodsy spot a little earlier than planned. Since the light wasn't quite right at the beach yet, we added another spot in between. When things don't go as planned, it tends to turn out even better than I expected, and this session was definitely no exception to that rule. If we hadn't been running away from bugs, we wouldn't have created these amazing silhouettes! I'm obsessed.
East beach was a little more crowded than usual but still so, so peaceful. We all enjoyed having our toes in the water.
I always enjoy watching through my lens as families interact with each other, but seeing these three celebrate their precious momma on Mother's Day was a special honor.
Thanks for letting me capture this season of your lives, Guyers! I hope these photos will always conjure sweet memories for all of you.
