Remember that time I got to photograph a stranger's marriage proposal right in the middle of another portrait session? If you know me in real life, I've probably told you about it multiple time because it was just so exciting! Well, I couldn't be happier to tell you that Michael & Katie are no longer strangers! We had such a great time at their engagement session! Precious little Carter even tagged along for the first part, and he did great!
It was amazing to hear the other side of the story about the proposal. It turns out that Katie had made it known that she wanted professional photographs of the proposal, and though Michael had tried to make this happen, illnesses and schedule changes caused it to fall through. He couldn't wait any longer to ask Katie to be his wife but was carrying around some disappointment about the lack of pro photographer standing by. I already had a gut feeling that this whole thing was not a coincidence, but hearing this part of the story was confirmation that it was MEANT TO BE.
It was truly a joy to have this sweet couple in front of my camera again, and we even found some more beautiful glowing backlight. :)
And how gorgeous is this ring?!?!
We enjoyed a stroll in downtown Ocean Springs.
During the course of our session, it became clear that Katie and I are two peas in a pod. She was always one step ahead of my posing suggestions and even shared my affinity for this cute bicycle. Great minds think alike, right?! ;)
I've learned a lot of business and marketing strategies over the years, but it's official: being in the right place at the right time when strangers are proposing marriage is hands down my FAVORITE way to find new clients. ;) Michael & Katie, I am so grateful that I get to play this role in your love story. Looking forward to your September wedding day! :)
P.S. If you're planning a proposal and would prefer not to rely on fate to make sure I show up (ha!), let's talk! :)
