Afton's Third Birthday

In real-life time, we’re getting ready for the birth of baby number 2, but in blog land, it’s time to celebrate the birth of baby number 1! The third anniversary of her birth, that is. ;) Just like last year (and the year before that), Sweet T and Granddaddy came to town with gifts from Kentucky relatives. Hopalong Jack has been a bedtime story favorite, and these blocks have kept Afton busy a lot lately for sure!

We enjoyed a tasty family dinner and a bit of cake on the back deck to mark her actual birthday.

But of course, this girl loves to PARTY, so the main event was on Saturday. This was our first time having friends over to our new house!

I had an opportunity to collaborate with two fabulous small business owners for the party decorations—a bit of an upgrade from last year’s last-minute Dollar Tree purchases. ;) This personalized banner by We Love a Party looked perfect on the mantel!

And the tropical balloons and banners from Sweet Chubby Cheeks were the perfect outdoor decor! (Sweet Chubby Cheeks is the same shop where I got the outfit Afton wore for her first birthday!)

We had several different cupcake toppers from We Love a Party

…and I loved the way they looked all together! (Thank you so much for collaborating, Melissa and Megan!)

We had a great turnout and were so glad that the rain held out just long enough for us to celebrate outside! (Have I mentioned the back yard is one of our favorite parts about our new house? …Am I still allowed to call it the new house? ;)) Afton got way too many great gifts…

But the real highlight was the water slide (which we borrowed from friends)! We have always had Afton’s parties at the pool because it is SO HOT here in August, but with so much great outdoor space for entertaining at home, we wanted to take advantage… the slide was the perfect solution! Friends also had fun on Afton’s new playset—more on that in an upcoming post.

It was a fantastic celebration of our favorite girl, and we’re thankful for all the family and friends who made it so much fun! Three is definitely my favorite age so far. :)
