When I was first asked "Do you do school pictures?" I laughed and said "no" without even thinking about it. I don't use studio equipment, I use natural light 99% of the time, I like a relaxed, lifestyle approach... that's all the opposite of how school pictures work, right?! Well, I'm glad I re-considered this idea, because it turns out that applying my relaxed, natural light, lifestyle approach to school pictures actually worked, and I LOVE the results! Look at all these precious faces!
Even the littlest ones were fabulous in front of the camera!
I brought along Afton's hand-me-down toy antique car (this one!), and it was a big hit, even with the bigger kids. I love how it gave them something to interact with and really let their sweet personalities shine!
If this adorable wicker furniture looks familiar, it's because you saw it in this family portrait session last fall, and those sweet clients (and friends!) let me borrow it--thanks, Palmers! Doesn't it look perfect with this flowery fence?
Full disclosure: this is not just any preschool, but the one where my own child goes every day! Yes, mom, I did take pictures of Afton, but unfortunately she wouldn't let me touch her hair, and she was more into posing with her friends than by herself. ;)
Some of the sets of siblings posed together for me, too!
I even stuck around to photograph the older kids who came for the after-school program!
Many thanks to all the students, teachers, and parents who made the first-ever Uninvented Colors School Picture Day such a success! I learned a lot along the way and look forward to doing it again!
