Remember Hurricane Nate? Probably not; it wasn't really all that memorable, even for those of us on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We would normally have ridden out a category 1 storm at home, but since we had an out-of-town guest, we all skipped town! Alex and Scott were determined not to let a little hurricane get in the way of their golf plans, so Afton and I tagged along to Lake Charles, Louisiana for what I like to think of as an evacu-cation. Get it? ;)
First stop: tasty seafood at Steamboat Bill's.
Afton and I were on our own while the guys were on the golf course the next day. We took a little stroll along the harbor.
Then we headed for nearby Millennium Park. This might be the coolest playground I've ever seen. It was massive, and so much fun!
It was really hot, so the splash park was a perfect spot for cooling down. Shout out to the clearance rack at the Carter's outlet for saving this Mom of the Year who forgot Afton's swimsuit. ;)
We worked up an appetite with all that playing, so we strolled through town looking for a bite to eat.
We followed our ears to the Jazz Brunch at Luna Bar & Grill, and it really hit the spot!
Afton was more than ready for nap time after lunch, so I enjoyed a scenic drive while she snoozed and the guys finished up their golf game. It was a lovely little town to take in from the car window. Thanks for being so hospitable, Lake Charles! :)
