Vacation #5: Whistler

At long last, it's time to share the conclusion to The Summer of the Five Vacations. Our final trip was to the Pacific Northwest. As was the case in Puerto Rico and Australia, this one was a business trip for my husband, and I got to tag along. He had a meeting in Seattle, and his colleagues entertained us very, very well. I loved this city! The only downside was that all our socializing made it difficult for me to take pictures. I'm pretty sure this just means I have to go back another time and try again, right? Anyhow, my photo adventure didn't really start until we left Seattle on the ferry.

Destination: British Columbia, Canada! Whistler, to be exact. Alex had gone there during the 2008 Olympics (back in my grad school/pre-marriage days) and had wanted to bring me there ever since. It was fun to see where the downhill events took place, and we even stayed where some of those athletes were housed.

We only had one full day there, but we made the most of it. We rode the Peak 2 Peak gondola, which is the longest and highest lift in the world. It was quite exhilarating! The views were truly stunning.

At one point, we rode a gondola with a glass bottom, which made for some especially fun perspectives.

We took an amazing hike at Blackcomb Mountain.

There was so much beauty to behold!

We rode back to Whistler mountain for dinner and were in for a lovely surprise: the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen in my life, by far. It was so massive that I couldn't begin to fit it in one photo. After a few attempts to capture this beauty, I just stared, in awe. Our God truly is an awesome God.
